Walkies!

Hello! Last weekend I went up to Southampton Animal Rescue to help walk the dogs with some people I met on a group dog walk with DD. They go every Saturday and Sunday without fail! Even Christmas day and some other people go during the week day too! The animals there are so lucky because there’s lots of people willing to help out.

Most of the dogs are rescued from Spain and have been there for quite a while now. I walked a beautiful eighteen month old lurcher called Sophie on the Saturday. She’s very friendly and loving she’s the sort of dog that smiles with her eyes when she looks at people. She had been homed once before but she had to be brought back to the rescue because of the recession and she can jump six foot high fences. Its so sad, but I’m sure one day she will find a loving home because she’s just so adorable!

On the Sunday Rob came along too, we both walked a pair of real mix-ups. I can’t really tell what breed they are,  a lot of the Spanish dogs are hard to tell what they are mixed with because some of the breeds are unique to Spain. Rob walked Nana she looked quite like a Beagle Staffy mix, and I walked Sunny but I really couldn’t guess what he is, but he was very Handsome. You can check out some of the dogs on their website. http://www.secondchanceanimalrescue.org.uk/dogs.html

It’s a lovely walk where we take the dogs. We just walk out the back gate and we’re slap bang in the country park. Its lovely. We had a lot of fun walking the dogs or should I say the dogs walking us as they didn’t half pull ;) But we really didn’t mind with a bit of training from their new owners they are going to be absolutely perfect companions for them. I really liked Sunny I have developed quite a soft spot for him! But I couldn’t accommodate another dog at the moment and I really need to concentrate on DD’s training. But one day Rob and I are hoping to get a bigger house so we can get another dog so DD can have a hearing buddy when we go on our walks because with her being deaf we aren’t confidant that she will come back when we let her off the lead, but she’s only a baby yet so who knows?

This weekend I’m walking the dogs again with The charity Moon Bear walk. Might see you there if not please donate on the website

TLRRSE Puppy party 2009

Sep 08
2009

On Sunday the 6th September my boyfriend and I packed up his car and headed towards Denmead with our dog DD for The Labrador retriever rescue Puppy party where we had a stall doing charity dog caricatures for them. We nearly didn’t make it as good old google maps sent us on a very pretty but long scenic route :) .

We finally got there, but unfortunately Rob had to pop into work and had to take DD with him. I would normally keep DD on the stall with me on my own but we didn’t bring her pen this time as we thought she would be ok with Rob on her lead and she had her little pop up kennel bed with her and some blankets incase she got tired. But we decided it would be best for her to go back with Rob and come later. Which was a shame because she does enjoy sitting with me on the stalls and meeting lots of other dogs and people.

It was a brilliant day! I have never seen so many Labs in my life! The charity founders Jean and her husband are amazing! I was amazed at how devoted they were to the charity and their dogs they truely are an awesome couple for what they do! I was so touched by the volunteers and everyone who helps out at their rescue! You lot really are brilliant! I was nearly in tears at the stories of the rescued dogs but where they started off as a tragedy they all ended up with happy endings!

After many doggy doodles and getting to see lots of fun dog shows including a rather fantastic Dog agility display by BarkRight. Rob and DD came to pick me up.

DD got to see some dogs and get lots of fuss but she did look funny surrounded by all the big labs towering over her. We got some cake from the cake stall and I bought DD a nice toy in the shape of a pair of lips with a tongue sticking out, she looked well funny chewing it.

We raised £58.00 for TLRRSE and hopefully will raise more in the future! Big thanks to Jean for letting me come and help, because it doesn’t just help raise money it also helps promote my labradoodlez so THANKYOU SO MUCH :)
